About Us

How Time Flies ...

  • 1966 Regina and Ditmar Jakob lease the 'Turnerheim' in Lauterecken and become something they previously knew very little about: restaurateurs. The first few years are not easy, but not in vain either.
  • 1971 After proven success and a self-recognized passion, the decisive step is taken: they purchase the property of what was then the Lehné wine tavern.
  • 1972 The "Pfälzer Hof" opens its doors. After almost two years of construction, the current main building is completed, initially featuring ten guest rooms. The stables make way for the restaurant and bowling alley. The historical name from the founding era of the original inn is thus reinstated.
  • 1973 Son Peter Jakob learns the profession of hotel management assistant (Hotelkaufmann) at the Europa Hotel in Ludwigshafen. He joins the family business shortly thereafter.
  • 1977 He marries Gertrud, née Gödtel, from the neighboring village of Cronenberg. As a trained housekeeper/economist, her purpose and drive make her a vital pillar of the operation.
  • 1978 Oliver is born, followed by Anja in 1981. This marks the beginning of their basic training. After attending a hotel management school, both later complete their apprenticeship at the Hotel Deidesheimer Hof in Deidesheim.
  • 1982 The first modernization phase begins, and the guest rooms each receive a private bathroom, which was considered progressive at the time. Simultaneously, the idea of offering weekend packages for group travelers emerges. This concept, which continues to be developed today, enabled the growth and guaranteed the survival of the business.
  • 1983 Management is transferred to Peter and Gertrud.
  • 1989 An extension is built, and the number of beds is increased to 32. The venerable vaulted cellar is now complemented by a sauna.
  • 1997 A garden plot along the Glan river, 200 m away, is acquired. This becomes our "Burgweg Guest House," offering additional accommodation options and a cozy barbecue area.
  • 2000 In summer, the Mediterranean-style terrace with 25 seats, nestled among flowers and shrubs, invites guests to linger.
  • 2002 The new reception area, made of glass and metal, shines brightly.
  • 2004 Life arrives: Pauline-Anabell sees the world, and if you don't see her, you can certainly hear her!
  • 2005 Our small but excellent kitchen gets a new look and sees the introduction of technical advancements.
  • 2007 The men of the house receive reinforcements. With Noah-Oliver, the future is secured.
  • 2008 The hotel is awarded 3 stars as a Comfort Hotel by the DEHOGA Rhineland-Palatinate.
  • 2010 The outdoor area is expanded to include approximately 50 idyllic seats, as the courtyard is converted into an outdoor restaurant/garden.
  • 2011 In spring, the rooms are renovated, the roof is renewed for energy efficiency, and, incidentally, the successors take over the succession :-)
  • 2013 In March, our "Grafensaal" (Count's Hall) is revamped with an oak plank floor. Its 70s hall flair has been replaced, and it now feels like a cozy, "larger living room."
  • 2015 is the year of major projects. Several initiatives begin in March. The small front garden at the Pfälzer Hof disappears, and our kitchen gains more space through a sandstone-clad extension. At the same time, the floor in the restaurant is also laid with wood. The counter is modernized, and new seating completes the overall appearance. Simultaneously, our Italian restaurant is established on Schillerstraße. There, the venerable inn is completely renovated from the ground up in 3 months and reopened on June 4th.
  • 2016 The siblings Anja and Oliver have now been preparing for the succession for quite a while, bringing fresh momentum and creative ideas. The next generation is also growing up. Pauline and Noah are already learning what a host of tomorrow needs to deliver. They are intended to complete these lines one day!
